Work Crew
Groups are responsible for supplying work crew personnel. Each group is asked to bring one work crew for every ten campers. Your work crew is free of charge and is responsible for working in the kitchen, dining room, dish pits and other areas of camp as needed. Be sure to recruit adults who can supervise or serve as point people for the work crew.
Medical Provider
Each group is asked to bring an Oregon certified medical provider (nurse, paramedic, doctor) that can provide care sufficient for the size of your group. Your group size will determine the number of medical personnel needed.
Lifeguards
All groups intending to use water activities (May - September) are required to bring their own lifeguards. The number of lifeguards required is determined by the number of water activities that the group would like to access.
Health Form
Each group is required to bring health forms for and signed by all attendees, including campers, leaders and work crew.
Contract
Each group will receive a contract for their booking reservation. This contract must be signed and returned to the property within 30 days after it is received.
Insurance
Each group must have a Certificate of Insurance sent to Washington Family Ranch by their insurance company. The certificate must name your group as the insured with Young Life named as the additional insured.
Deposit
After booking, each group will be asked to make a deposit of 10% down or $5000, whichever is greater. This deposit is non-refundable and will be due with your signed contract.
We welcome guests of all abilities to our camps. At Washington Family Ranch, all of our main buildings are accessible to strollers or wheelchairs, and we have a handful of cabins that are designed to be accessible (special housing needs may be requested by your child's trip leader).
Walkways around camp are paved. We will also do our best to help every guest participate in activities. We want every kid to have the best week of their life as they come to camp!
Truly "Miles Beyond Ordinary", Washington Family Ranch is located in a remote canyon in Central Oregon, about a 30 minute drive from the small town of Antelope, OR. We've got a 12-mile driveway, part gravel road and part rough paving, so be prepared.
Washington Family Ranch asks all drivers to be cautious on area roads. Roads may be slippery when wet and may be icy early in the morning. Check weather reports. WFR is consistently warmer than surrounding areas and WFR's location report may not accurately reflect road conditions at higher elevations. Please use caution, as heavy trucks, semis and construction equipment will be on camp roads throughout the year.
Muddy Road is bare gravel with patches of pavement. In the event of rain, please drive carefully, as the road can be slippery. The road is steep and contains several blind corners. Please drive with caution and respect any road work signs, as crews will be repairing rough patches and culverts.
Reports will be posted in the event of hazardous conditions. If you are in need of a current report, please call our office during normal business hours.
Regional Road Report Info
We have been blessed with the presence of a 4,200 foot paved airstrip on the ranch. This airstrip presents some unique opportunities and unique hazards. Due to the location of our airstrip in relation to Washington Family Ranch, we only extend permission to use this airstrip to our guests through a specific approval process. This process helps to mitigate the risks involved as well as keep our insurance premiums (operating costs) at their lowest. We hope our due diligence in following this process and maintaining our standards is understandable.
